R.I.P Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America

Steve Rogers [a.k.a Captain America]was born on July 4, 1917 in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City, to Irish immigrants Sarah and Joseph Rogers, which means he died at the age of 66. A long life dedicated to the fight for freedom and the american way of life, sometimes along with the superhero group, the Avengers, has been terminated in the latest book of the hero, released by Marvel Entertainment on the past dreadful Wednesday, 7th March 2007 - Captain America #25, with cover by Steve Epting, which also does the pencils and inks, written by Ed Brubaker and colored by Frank D'Armata.

Even for those of you who have never had the opportunity to read a Captain America comic book, published by New York-based Marvel Entertainment Inc, the news about his death could be a shocking event, because Captain America was one of the most known heroes throughout the world. The story about his death was covered in all the major media outlets around the world as you can see next.

Captain America was spawned when a scrawny arts student named Steve Rogers, ineligible for the army because of his poor health but eager to serve his country, agreed to a "Super Soldier Serum" injection. The substance made him a paragon of physical perfection, armed only with his shield, his strength, his smarts and a command of martial arts.

It ends a long run for the stars-and-stripes-wearing character, created in 1941. Over the years, some 210 million copies of Captain America comic books have been sold in 75 countries. The character has been adapted for a movie serial, two made-for-television movies, one direct-to-video movie, and several animated properties.

But this might not be the last time we have seen Captain America because comic's editor-in-chief, Joe Quesada, refuses to rule out resurrecting him in the future and Marvel Entertainment has confirmed it is developing a movie based on the character.
