Adam Neate has decided to make the capital - London - his gallery and the artwork's free.
Adam Neate, who is one of the world's best-known street artists, scattered 1,000 of his pieces around the capital, and says passers-by are welcome to claim them. Pedestrians could stumble across the artworks: Neate's work has been shown in prestigious galleries, including the Elms Lesters Painting Rooms in London, and sells for up to £43,000 per piece. He has left work on the streets of London worth an estimated £1million.
Neate, 30, who began his career on the streets of Ipswich, said the event is intended as a return to his roots. "It has always been a dream of mine to do a show around the whole of London, to take over the whole city in one go. I want everybody to be able to see it, but once the pieces are out there I don't mind what happens to them."
The event, which has been titled Street Art Action, began at dawn, when Neate and a squad of helpers began distributing the autographed works around the city's outskirts. They left work around famous landmarks in the centre of the capital and on other areas like Lambeth and Hackney.
